Choc Oat Cookies

Is there anything better than a cookie and a glass of milk?  These choc chip cookies are so tasty and they even have oats in them, so if it wasn’t for all the chocolate, sugar and butter they’d almost be healthy too!  Remember to always follow the Kitchen Monsters Code when you’re in the kitchen!

Ingredients: 125g x white chocolate, 125g x plain chocolate, 125g x plain flour, 125g x butter, 125g x sugar, 1 x egg, 1 x tsp vanilla essence, 125g x porridge oats, 1/2 tsp x baking powder
Special Equipment: Mixing bowl, kitchen scales, spoon, 2 x baking trays

Oat Choc CookiesPre-heat the oven to 180C and grease the baking trays
Chop the chocolate into chunks – have different sizes so you get different textures in the cookies
Mix the butter and sugar together in the bowl then add the egg, vanilla and oats
Stir together and add the flour, baking powder and mix  - just enough to combine all the ingredients though, if you over mix then you’ll make the dough too dense
Add the choc chips and give a last stir
Spoon onto the baking tray leaving plenty of room between each cookie
Bake for 12-15 minutes or until they’ve turned golden brown
Leave to cool for 5 minutes then enjoy with a glass of milk

Kitchen Monster Tip:  The cookies will spread when they bake so make sure there is plenty room between them
